Volunteer-run Tewkesbury Museum in Gloucestershire is seeking a Mentor for Accreditation.

Do you have a minimum of three years professional experience in the museum sector?

Becoming an Accreditation Mentor is a great way for Continuing Professional Development. It is an opportunity to share your professional experiences and be a valued source of support for a smaller museum.

This is an exciting time for Tewkesbury Museum; visitor numbers are rising, with up to 5,000 visitors passing through the doors of this small independent museum each year alongside ambitions to refresh their galleries in the near future.

The museum has Full Accreditation and will be making their next Return by the end of 2019. They are particularly interested in a Mentor with strong collections management experience and a comprehensive understanding of documentation procedures. The museum holds sizeable collections related to the Battle of Tewkesbury and Raymond Priestly the Antarctic explorer as well as objects reflecting the wider history of the town.

Accreditation Mentors must have at least three years’ experience working in museums with experience at management/ curatorial level and be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development. You will need to commit to providing quarterly site visits and remote support. Please note this is a voluntary role, however expenses are provided.
