This month’s newsletter features key findings from the Annual Museum Survey 2021 national report, which provide a fascinating insight into the varied impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on museums across England.
The Annual Museum Survey 2021 compares data on museum workforces, financial operations and audiences with previous years to understand the depth of the Covid-19 impact and the pressures it has placed on the museum sector. It highlights the significant differences in how this impact has been felt across the sector – depending on key factors such as the region a museum is located in, or whether it is based in an urban or rural setting.
This month’s newsletter also shares a range of opportunities and sector news, including the last chance to apply for up to £2,500 through our Green Grants programme. The Winter edition of our SW Museum Skills training programme continues, and we have just a few spaces remaining on some sessions – so book now to avoid missing out!
Finally, our Specialist Officers share their expertise, including tips for engaging student volunteers, and how to prepare for the new museum pests that will emerge in the coming weeks. We also welcome our new Communications and Events Officer to the team, and invite applications for the role of Audience Development Officer (maternity cover) with us at South West Museum Development.
