Museums across the South West are set to benefit from a new round of funding aimed at improving exhibition displays and security. The On Display! grants for improved display and security of museum objects, funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and administered by Museum Development South West (MDSW), will invest grants of up to £3,000 per museum.
Opening on Monday 28 April 2025, and closing on Monday 19 May 2025, the scheme encourages museums to enhance their visitor experience by improving display cases, collection care, security measures such as alarms and CCTV, and overall exhibit presentation.
Museum Development South West’s small grant investment in collections care, conservation and display has been instrumental in enabling museums to display hidden treasures including family portraits, cloth seals from the wool trade and Victorian costume.
“This funding from DCMS will provide further much-needed support to improve security in museums and display conditions”
Helena Jaeschke, MDSW Conservation Development Officer.
This grant scheme is open to museums and heritage organisations that are Accredited, Working Towards Accreditation, non-National Portfolio Organisations and non-national museums in the South West of England. Further details will be announced shortly.
National Collaboration
The On Display! grant programme is a national grant programme of public funding distributed by Museum Development providers across the country, enabling more museums to benefit from funding and implement best practice.
