A time for review and action

Roz Bonnet, 26.11.2016

As we enter the final month of the year, December is often a time when we take stock of the year, reviewing our success and challenges of the preceding months. Successes are to be celebrated, whereas challenges can be more difficult to assess and address. This is why in early 2017 we want to equip museums with the knowledge and skills to address two specific areas to enable museums to thrive.

The first is income generation, specifically fundraising. Generating income was stated by museums and heritage organisations as their top priority for organisational heath when we conducted training needs survey in spring this year. This is why we are delivering two sessions to specifically address this.

Introduction to Fundraising – A Workshop

This session will enable you to identify your USP (unique selling point) and how to communicate it effectively to individual and organisational donors, identify the best funding streams for your organisation and how to build an impactful case for support.

The second area is trustees and good governance. For these sessions we are working in partnership with Cornwall Museums Partnership to deliver training on good governance specifically for trustees and those who work with trustees. These sessions are being delivered by Joy Allen of Leading Governance who has previously worked with the Association of Independent Museums on their governance activity and are essential for all museum and heritage organisations resilience.
