Equip yourself with the essential knowledge, skills and confidence to work safely with children and young people with a Child Protection and Safeguarding for Museums training session. The session is held in partnership with Artswork.

What will I learn?

  • The context and importance of child protection within the cultural sector
  • Current DBS child protection legislation and guidelines for working with young people
  • Ways to recognise potential signs of abuse and appropriate ways to respond and report possible abuse and disclosure
  • Issues of “safe touch” and guidelines for physical activities
  • Guidelines for developing an appropriate child protection policy for your museum in line with current legislation

This training will cover current child protection legislation in line with the requirements of the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), the Duty to Refer and Working Together – within the context of developing and delivering creative and cultural projects for children and young people.

Is the course for me?

This course will be of benefit to individuals and organisations looking to develop their own child protection policy and maintain standards of good practice, providing practical advice and guidelines to develop confidence and sensible structures around child protection issues within arts and cultural organisations.
