Job Opportunity – Digital Engagement Officer
South West Museum Development is looking to recruit a Digital Engagement Officer to join their small and dedicated team working with the museum sector across the South West of England.
Successful applicants will have experience of providing digital engagement services in the context of the cultural or not-for-profit sector as well as a proven track record in the management and delivery of projects. A background in digital communications and marketing would be an advantage, and the ability to support others in developing digital literacy skills will be essential. Experience of building relationships and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders is a core part of the role. This is an opportunity to make a real difference and support museums in the region to develop how they think and use digital media and technology.

Who you will work with
Complementing a wider programme which spans collections care, sustainable volunteering and audience development, the post holder will deliver a targeted programme of digital engagement support for the 216 Accredited museums in the South West, as well as working with the Bristol Culture Digital Team.
The role is part of a network of Museum Development Officers and will help to identify museums in need of support and to establish opportunities for cohort working or funding. Similarly, the post holder will work in collaboration with other sector support organisations or technology partners (such as Culture24 and Google Arts & Culture) to connect national offers with regional need.
The South West Museum Development programme is part of a national initiative funded by Arts Council England in collaboration with local authorities to support the sustainable development of museums in England. To find out more about us please see our website: https://southwestmuseums.org.uk/
This role is based at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, with frequent travel throughout the South West region. This post is funded jointly through the Arts Council and Bristol Culture, and as such the post holder is expected to work closely with both the Bristol Culture Digital Team as well as the wider SWMD team.
