Museum of Somerset (Castle House)

This is a comprehensive introductory session to help you with all aspects of caring for your collection. The day will be a mix of lectures, discussions and activities.

This session is for volunteers and paid staff who work with any sort of museum collection who would like to learn the basics of caring for objects.

You will learn the main risks facing objects in museums, how items should be handled, stored and displayed as well as simple ways to improve conditions, and also  how to plan and record collection care, monitor the environment and safeguard against pests.
