Recruitment and retention of volunteers in the ‘new normal’

About the sessions:
The Covid-19 pandemic has changed our museums, at a time when participating in cultural life seems more vital than ever. Operational aspects of the visitor experience have had to change. Our workforce, including volunteers, has paused – and may not have returned in the same way, or with the same priorities. For many museums, adapting to the ‘new normal’, by looking to the future of the volunteer team, is a high priority.
This session will be delivered through two sessions, with time to start to put your learning into action between the courses. It is important to commit to both sessions.

This course is aimed at those working or volunteering in museums, for whom volunteer co-ordination is the main part of the role. It may also be helpful for trustees and senior managers with overall responsibility for volunteering, to develop awareness of strategic approaches to volunteer involvement and the tasks and skills involved in delivering a successful volunteer programme. Please note this course, involves practical exercises and breaking into online discussion groups with other participants for some parts of the session.
