Date: 4 March 2025

Time: 09:30-12:00

Format: Via Zoom

This session is for anyone who needs or wants to explore how to understand – or better understand – their users and non-users.

It will share a range of example methods, when to use them, pros and cons. It will talk about best practice and robust research and consultation, as well as including pragmatic tips on making the most of what you have, and what you can do with limited or no budget and/or little time.

Practical examples will be showcased to bring the methods to life.

The session will include opportunities to ask questions and share reflections throughout, and one breakout group discussion.

Who should attend?

All participants are welcome to attend and no prior knowledge is required. The session will be aimed at a beginner and intermediate level, but advanced practitioners wishing to have a refresh should find the session of value too.

What will you learn?

By the end of the session, delegates will:

  • Have more confidence in undertaking research and consultation with users and non-users
  • Have more understanding about different methods to use

How does this meet the Accreditation standard?

8.1 To understand who uses your museum, and who doesn’t.
