About the SW Museum Skills programme
The programme uses expertise within the South West Museum Development team and partners to deliver accessible and relevant training for those working in or volunteering in museums across the South West region. This ensures skills and knowledge are up to date and organisations have the opportunity to develop their workforce and how they operate.
SW Museum skills training is either completely or partly subsidised by Arts Council England and supporting Local Authorities. Sessions broadly focus on the three Accreditation standard requirements – Organisational health, Managing collections and Users and their experiences.
We offer training in the following key categories:
ESSENTIALS – The South West Museum Development team along with regional and national partners deliver sessions as part of a formal training programme from September to March. Sessions are typically one day in length.
PLUS – Practice-based workshop style sessions focused on a particular subject matter, often accompanied by kits to support practice back at your organisation. Sessions are typically one day in length or a training programme in its own right.
FORUMS – Forums operate at a regional and sub regional level on specialist topics.
Other bespoke training and events are delivered according to need. If you have an enquiry about this, please contact us at [email protected]
