Putting objects on display
Tuesday 23rd February 2021 10.00 – 12.00
This will be a two hour training session hosted online via Zoom
About the Day:
The session will consider the principles and practices of putting objects on display. It will include security, providing a suitable environment, protecting objects from damage and choosing suitable materials to use in the display.
There will be a practical session on designing a mount for an object. Delegates are encouraged to choose an object from their surroundings (or their museum) to use in this session. The actual museum object will not be needed as long as people have sufficient information and ideally an image of the object to help them. Details of useful suppliers will be covered as part of this session.
Who should attend?
This session is suitable for anyone working with a museum collection who wants to know how to put objects on display safely. No previous knowledge or experience of putting items on display is needed, but it will be helpful if delegates have some experience of handling objects.
