This is a two part interactive session with our Sustainable Volunteering Officer, Eleanor Moore and Audience Development Officer, Rachel Miller – 15 places available.
Please note – this course consists of two online sessions. Attendees are expected to attend BOTH sessions. Participants will be expected to follow up session 1 with some focused reading in preparation for session 2.
About the Sessions:
This two part session will support participants:
- to understand the basics of engaging with communities
- to explore the wider principles which underpin all engagement activity, including equalities legislation and understanding the importance of audience research
- to build relationships with local communities for engaged, thoughtful and relevant partnership working
- to experience a range of case studies detailing current approaches to engaging with diverse communities as audiences and volunteers in museums in the SW and beyond.
The session will also include inspirational speakers and case studies from museums and organisations from across the south west who exemplify good practice in engaging with diverse communities.
Who should attend?
Volunteers and paid staff in museums whose roles include engagement work and/or who are interested in developing their understanding of best practice in community engagement activity.This course is an introductory level course in a supportive online environment.
