In this month’s newsletter we are revealing the results of the Annual Museums Survey (AMS) 2023, on behalf of Museum Development England. Museums are striving, and in many cases, succeeding in their recovery with strong growth across museum visits and volunteer contribution increasing on the previous year. However, after two years of energy invested in their adaptation and recovery, AMS 2023 highlights how growth in income is stalling at the very same time that costs are rising across almost all service areas. Read the newsletter to get the full picture of the post-pandemic legacy for museums across England and in the South West.

We also have an update on our National Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England funded project Travelling Together, as we announce the names of the participating museums. They have already embarked on the first part of their journey in the project, in-depth training from Inclusive Recruitment and our own specialists.

Lastly, don’t forget that it’s not too late to sign up for our autumn SW Museum Skills programme! After the success of our Collections Care Surgery in September we are delighted to announce that we will be back with another the session on Wednesday 22 November at 11am. We have also released five more places on our self-led eLearning course Disability Essentials.

In addition, in the October newsletter we’ll be delivering your usual round-up of news, specialist support and funding opportunities.

If you’re not already a subscriber, please sign up to the newsletter and you’ll receive our monthly update direct to your inbox.
