As 2023 draws to a close, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the museums we have worked with and our supporters for everything we have achieved together this year, especially our successful bid to join the Museum Development England 2024-26 Partnership.

This newsletter features the upcoming Equity, Diversity and Inclusion peer networking sessions, as part of our National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England funded project Travelling Together. All sessions will include opportunities for discussion, learning and sharing within a safe and non-judgemental space.

We are also calling for applications for a new Board member! The new Board member will be familiar with the heritage sector in Hampshire Solent and the Isle of Wight as we align with the Arts Council England South West Area. No previous Board experience is necessary and training will be provided. Applications close on Tuesday 9 January 2024.

This newsletter is also a reminder to book onto our SW Museum Skills sessions before Christmas to avoid disappointment, as all of our workshops have limited places which are filling up fast. As we look ahead to our 2024-26 programme we are keen to understand the sector’s skills needs. Museum Development England will be running a national skills needs analysis in the new year, you can help to shape training provision for the South West by participating.

We also take a look at the latest grant schemes available to museums, sector news, and provide some insights from our specialists. We’d like to remind museums that the South West Museum Development Office will be closed for Christmas from 12pm on Friday 22 December 2023 to 10am on Wednesday 3 January 2024.
