This month’s newsletter announces the launch of the Annual Museum Survey 2021 South West Report, which takes a deep dive into the Covid-19 impact in the South West and the pressures it has placed on the museum sector in the region. The report provides a fascinating insight into how different museums were impacted differently by the pandemic, and some vital hard data that may be useful for funding applications, engaging stakeholders or annual reports.
We’re also thrilled to provide an update on some of the inspiring projects we have funded under our Green Grants scheme. Our Green Grants are designed to support museums to engage with their communities on the issues of the climate challenge and explore positive actions. Through the grant scheme, we have awarded ten museums £20,560 with funding from Arts Council England to undertake a range of exciting projects.
We have an exciting opportunity to join the South West Museum Development Team. We are seeking an Audience Development Officer (Maternity Cover) to develop, lead, and deliver a targeted programme of audience development support, including training, and one to one support and enquiries, for accredited museums across the region. Deadline for applications is midnight on Monday 28 March.
The newsletter also features useful advice from our Specialist Officers. Our Sustainable Volunteering Officer, Eleanor Moore, provides updated tips for volunteer coordinators in the light of the Government’s recently released ‘Living with Covid-19’ guidance, while our Collections and Conservation Officer, Helena Jaeschke, advises on how to update your Emergency Plan to include unplanned closures.
Finally, we have provided information about new grants and funding opportunities, as well as links to tips and tricks for improving your funding applications.
